Pull out your capes! The inaugural Urban Nerd Con – Our Heroes, Villains, Our Stories, Everyone’s Con – takes flight in Montgomery, Ala., on July 29-31.
Special guests include the effervescent Taimak, along with a special event screening of his cultural touchstone “The Last Dragon.” Prolific voice actor Dave Fenoy.
Meagan Tandy of “Batwoman” and “Teen Wolf”; multi-hyphenate Kevin Grevioux, the co-creator and writer of “Underworld”; and Rob Morgan of Marvel’s Netflix series and “Stranger Things” will also be on hand for the very first Urban Nerd Con.
Others scheduled to appear include Cirroc Lofton, the youngest actor cast as a regular on “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”; Anthony Montgomery of Star Trek Enterprise; and Adelle Simmons who was the first Black Woman to be an Associate Director on the Star Trek: The Next Generation franchise and the only one to be there the entire 7 seasons!
Along with Steve Bacic of “Stargate: SG1,” “Andromeda”), Tony Amendola (“Stargate: SG1”), Panou (“Stargate SG1 & Stargate Atlantis), Simone Bailly (Stargate SG1), Peter Williams aka Apophis the original villain of Stargate SG1 welcome fans as they celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the show launch.
Four teams of Middle School kids from the Ed Farm program will also be featured during the Con as they present the video games they created to see which will take First Place!?! 3 Montgomery and 1 Birmingham area school will battle! In addition Ed Farm is bringing over 300 kids to experience the Con! Friday July 29th has been designated Youth Day at the Con! With special ticket prices.
The Urban Nerd Con is a multicultural comic, gaming, cosplay and tech event. Designed to provide creators of African descent across the diaspora an opportunity to showcase their work with fans of all backgrounds, it’s also where all fans can come to see – and buy – the best independent artwork, comics, novels and games from the “Defenders of the Diaspora.”
Fans will also have the opportunity to learn and participate by taking advantage of several tracks of programming, including panels aligned to their interests.
TUNC is a partnership with the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce, the Montgomery City Council, local businesses and Jericho Broadcasting Network.

The Urban Nerd Con will be July 29-31 at the Multiplex at The Crampton Bowl, 1037 Pelham St., Montgomery, Ala. 36104.
