BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — For Walter Goss III, success hasn’t been defined by accolades, income, or applause—it’s been measured by authenticity, adversity, and alignment with purpose.
“Life has taught me to be my authentic self regardless of people, conditions, or successes,” Goss said in a recent sit-down with inCity Magazine. And it’s that deep-rooted authenticity—quiet yet powerful—that has become the cornerstone of his entrepreneurial and personal journey.
In 2023, during Small Business Week, Goss entered his first pitch competition. He didn’t just pitch a product; he pitched a mission—to reshape people’s relationship with food through health and education. But while his heart was in the right place, the feedback he received became a game-changer.
“The judges helped me understand that I was marketing my business as a service, when in fact I had a high-end product. They gave me clarity on who my real target audience was,” he said. “That feedback pivoted my strategy and helped me grow both my business and my impact.”
It was a moment of evolution—and not the last.
Just months later, Goss faced a one-two punch that could have broken anyone: the passing of his father and the unexpected loss of his 12-year professional career. “I felt hopeless, betrayed, like a complete failure,” he said. “I didn’t have my father’s strong voice anymore. And without my job, my self-worth vanished.”
But in that space of pain, something new was born: resolve.
Those back-to-back losses sparked a period of radical transformation. “I became self-sufficient. I re-centered my focus on family, personal growth, and building my business.”
That same focus—anchored by faith—is what keeps Goss grounded today. He describes his prayer life as not just a ritual, but a lifeline. “My unwavering faith in God keeps me rooted and enables me to live a prosperous life,” he said.
Despite his vibrant energy, Goss says he’s often misunderstood. “People think I’m an extrovert,” he laughs. “But I’m really an introvert who’s learned how to be outward-facing because of the roles I’ve had to step into.”
And he has indeed stepped up.
Goss’ life philosophy has matured alongside him. The once-shy, quiet youth has grown into a man who embraces visibility and vulnerability with equal strength. A quote from a mentor helped catalyze his growth: “Walter, a turtle only makes progress when he sticks his head out.”
It’s that kind of slow-but-bold courage that now defines how Goss shows up in the world. His advice for aspiring entrepreneurs and leaders doesn’t come wrapped in fluff. “Procrastination cripples vision; consistency breeds success,” he said. “Laziness slows you down. Action speeds you up. Acknowledge God in all your ways, and He will direct your path.”
Ask Goss what legacy he wants to leave behind, and his answer is simple, yet profound: “Encouraging my generation to discover and fulfill their God-given purpose—impacting humanity in a transformative fashion.”
As for how he’d sum himself up in just three words? “Respectable. Confident. Transparent.”
He pauses, then adds, “I’ve lived. I’ve learned. I am a student of life.”
And indeed, Walter Goss III is living proof that when life shakes your foundation, you can either break—or build. He chose to build. And in doing so, he’s become not just a businessman, but a beacon for others seeking meaning, faith, and impact.
For collaborations, business inquiries, or to learn more about Goss’ mission, readers are encouraged to connect and support his growing venture—because some entrepreneurs aren’t just selling products. They’re offering purpose.
