Meet CJ Brown, a young man with a purpose, who turned a gift into a true passion. We had the privilege in asking him a few questions about his inspiring journey.
Please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Around 8 years ago a friend gifted me some baby chickens. We took them in as pets and raised them for eggs for a while. After a few years, we decided to get a few roosters and start raising chickens. We then got into other birds such as geese, ducks, turkeys and many more.
What should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from others?
I am very good at raising and taking care of birds and have been doing so for 8 years. I would say what sets me apart from others is that I’m probably part of a small group of people doing it on this scale.
What is “failure” and “success” for you?
Success for me is raising a bird to adulthood and eventually getting it to lay eggs and propagate. Failure to me is not raising many of the birds I own for the year.

What excites you right now?
Right now we’re doing really well with ducks. They do really well in all elements and are perfect backyard pets.
